NEW BUILD CONSERVATION & REPAIR RESEARCH & TRAINING MONUMENTS |
Our knowledge of the current worldwide revival in earth construction has been fed by training in Germany and Devon, as well as study tours of Holland and the United States, We have used our craft skills to create beautiful and durable new structures and finishes which are healthy and have low environmental impact. Some new buildings use local vernacular traditions, like mudwall, while others follow modern techniques, such as light earth, or focus on high quality finishes. Often the impetus for these projects is a holistic approach to making new spaces – creating a healthy internal environment while also reducing carbon emissions, and minimising waste. We can advise clients and architects on the most appropriate techniques, materials and details for a particular project. We can also assess whether your soil is suitable for using in your buildings and arrange for tests, where appropriate. 1. Mudwall workshop, Perthshire 2. Mudwalling 3. Light earth structure, Fife 4.
