NEW BUILD

CONSERVATION & REPAIR

RESEARCH & TRAINING

MONUMENTS

The importance of historic earth buildings is increasingly recognised and Little & Davie have helped conserve some key buildings in recent years. We have worked to establish appropriate repair techniques through live projects and the ESRP research programme for Historic Scotland.

We repaired the ‘A’ listed mudwall schoolhouses at Cottown in Perthshire and Logie in Angus, both for the National Trust for Scotland. At Logie, we acted as a specialist subcontractor in a restoration project that won a Europa Nostra, Europe’s highest conservation award.

Other projects have included the conservation of a turf building in Aberdeenshire, several clay-mortared stone wall structures and a range of ruins and monuments. We are currently helping conserve a number of early medieval ruins on Bute, where we are matching the original clay mortar to stabilise several important ruined chapels and towers. (SEE VIDEO LINK)
